Who would have thought it, Robert Downey Jr. stars in the new movie Dolittle which above expectations easily beats out Margot Robbie and the Birds Of Prey to make its debut at the top leaving the ladies to debut at number 2, meanwhile 1917 falls to number 3 and Oscar darling Parasite makes a good debut.

Dolittle

Despite getting a good panning from the critics the money paying audience did not listen and the Robert Downey Jr. starring vehicle makes its debut at the top with an excellent gross of £5 Million.

This is getting on fos double that of the new film at number 2 this weekend and far better than anyone could have expected.

It will have a big problem beating the new Sonic The Hedgehog film released next weekend but it can at least bask in its glory this week.

Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)

I'm sure Warner Bros. expected this to fly in at the top of the box office this weekend but the film has come up short being beaten by Dolittle.

The Margot Robbie starring movie debuts at number 2 this week with £2.8 million.

1917

After spending an excellent 4 weeks at the top of the UK box office Sam Mandes war movie, which missed out on the best film Oscar this weekend, falls to number 3 with £2.2 Million.

This pushes the film total gross to £35.8 Million after 5 weeks of release.

Parasite

What turned out to be the Oscar darling at this years ceremony makes id debut on the UK box office at number 4 with a weekend gross of £1.4 Million.

The film will go into more cineas in the coming week so expect next weeks weekend gross to maybe be higher than this week.

Bad Boys For Life

Will Smith and martin Lawrence fall to number 5 this week with a little over a Million over the weekend pushing the films total gross to £12.3 Million after 3 weeks.

Frozen II

Disney's sequel movie falls to number 15 this weekend but it has the longerst run on the box offie with 12 weeks and the highest total gross with £52.9 Million.

Bad Boys For Life had a good run at the top of the US box office but its time for a change and this weekend Margot Robbie and her gang of trouble makers hit the top in Birds Of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn).

Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)

Makings its debut at the top of the US box office the spiritual follow-up to Suicide Squad with Harley Quinn leading the way as she joins up with the Birds Of Prey to down a Billionaire criminal.

The film took $33.2 Million over the weekend which is perhaps a little lower than was expected, and if lower than Suicide Squad and Joker from last year.

Bad Boys For Life

After 3 weeks at the top the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence buddy cop movie falls to number 2 this week with $12 Million.

The film now has a total gross of $166.3 million and although not as good as your average superhero movie is far better than anyone could have expected from the movie.

1917

The award darling war movie (altohugh it didn't get the Oscar) falls to number 3 this weekend with $9 Million pushing its total gross after 7 weeks of release to $132.5 Million.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

The Sci-Fi space opera falls to number 10 this weekend but it does have the highest total gross on the chart with $510.5 Million from 8 weeks of release.

Parasite

The South Korean movie has been in cinemas in the US now for 18 weeks, and altohugh they have not all been on the top 15 it does have the longest run of films inside the top 15.

The movie was the Oscar darling this year winning both best director and best movie which will bring a new audience to the movie and we could see the film around for a bit longer to come.

Originally based on the mobile video game of the same name the Angry Birds have gone beyond that medium now into movies, and the second film has been given a U age rating by the BBFC.

The story of a group of birds that have been angered by the pigs and seek revenge was one of the original addiction games that came out for smart phone platforms.

The original movie was a smash hit back in 2016, the new movie puts the birds and pigs on the same team to fight a bigger enemy.

The BBFC's granting of a U age ratig is for very mild bad language, rude humour, threat and the film has a runtime of 97 minutes (1 hour and 37 minutes) and is released on 2nd August 2019.

Following the success of The Angry Birds Movie comes, as no surprise, a sequel.

The Angry Birds Movie 2 is due in cinemas October 11th 2019 and today Sony delivers the first trailer.

Showing all the humour of the first movie the Birds of the title have to join forces with a bigger enemy, and maybe make a few friends on the way.
