Very little has changed on this weeks US box office with little in the way of new releases while studios continue to release movies straight to VOD waiting for more certainty in the cinema marketplace.
With the Croods sequel remaining at the top for a second weekend the top new movie of the weekend was Nomadland at number 7, the movie was also available on VOD.

After going back to the top on last weekends chart the Nicholas Cage starring animated sequel has proved to be one of the biggest hits during the COVID-19 pandemic, and at the current rate will overtake Tenet to be the biggest.
This week the movie stays at the top with $1.7 Million on its 13th weekend of release, 18% down from last weekend, for a total of over $50 Million.
Jumping back up to number 2 this weekend is the Denzel Washington starring thriller which falls 44% for a $1.15 Million weekend.
This gives the movie a total gross in America of $11.85 Million after 4 weeks of release.
Director Shaka King's highly praised movie falls to number 3 on its second weekend of release with a weekend gross of $905.000, a 56% drop from last weekend.
This gives the movie a North American total gross of $3.39 Million from its first 2 weeks of release.
The much anticipated DC Universe movie from Warner Bros. has not been the massive hit the studio may have hoped, largely due to a tighter COVID-19 lockdown over Christmas when it was released.
The movie has still taken $805,000 on its 9th weekend of release, only a 29% drop from last weekend, and has a total gross of $42.7 Million, it stays at number 4.
Liam Neeson is one of the few actors to have had 2 movies released during the lockdown and this week his second movie stays put at number 5 with $775,000 on its 6th weekend, 30% drop from last weekend, and has taken $11.45 Million in total.
With cinema closures under the global pandemic continuing across the US which is for the 10th month disrupting the box office animated feature The Croods 2 stays at the top for a second weekend.
Top new movie of the weekend enters the box office at 2 in the shape of Mexican movie Half Brothers and All My Life also makes a new entry at 4.
Also making a new entry on the box office this weekend is the re-edited version of The Godfather Part II, called The Godfather, Coda: The Death Of Michael Corleone, which debuts at 15 with $52,000.

This gives the movie a total gross of $20.3 Million after 2 weeks of release.
A Mexican movie from director Luke Greenfield is the highest new movie of the weekend making its debut at number 2 on the US box office.
The film took a very respectable $720,000 on its debut weekend of release.
The horror comedy former number 1 movie falls to number 3 this weekend with $460,000, a 42% drop from last weekend.
The Christopher Landon directed movie has now taked $7.74 Million during its 4 weeks of release.
New at number 4 this weekend is this romance from director Marc Meyers which takes $350,000 on its debut weekend.
Surprise hit of the year starring Rober De Niro falls to number 5 this weekend with $329,359, a 44% drop, giving the movie a total gross of $17.63 Million after 9 weeks of release, all in the top 5!
For the first time on the US box office since Tenet made its debut back in August The Croods: A New Age makes a decent weekend debut.
The release schedule outside the new animated movie is next to nothing and the only other new releases this week are a couple of catalogue movies, the excellent National Lampoons Christmas Vacation at 9 and Disney's Frozen at 12.

Dreamworks follow up their 2013 movie The Croods which took $187.1 Million at the US box office with this sequel which Universal has released while the pandemic is still causing cinemas to shut their doors.
The movie still manages to take a very good $9.7 Million on its debut weekend which is second only to Tenet in the months since the pandemic effected the box office.
Falling from the top after 2 weeks is the Vince Vaughn starring horror/comedy which takes $770,000, a 40% drop from last weekend.
The movie has now grossed $7.01 Million in the US over 3 weeks of release.
Surprise hit on the last few months is the Robert De Niro starring movie which takes $643,937 over the weekend, only 14% down from last week.
The movie is showing incredible staying power and has grosses $17.25 Million over its 8 weeks of release.
4 weeks on the the Dianne Lane starring movie falls to 4 with $453,000, 37% down, for a total of $8.73 Million after 4 weeks.
Falling to 5 this week is Jacob Chase's horror movie which takes $387,000, 31% down from last weekend, for a $8.83 Million 5 week total.
Universal have released the first trailer for sequel movie The Croods: A New Age.
The animated movie is a follow up to 2013's surprise hit movie The Croods which took £26 Million in the UK and $587 million worldwide.
The new movie has the familiar voices of Nicholas Cage, Ryan Reynolds and Emma Stone all reprising their roles from the original.
The movie is set for release in the UK on January 29th and in the US on Thanksgiving.
