News from around the web

There were no big films released this week in the UK which makes Christopher Robin spend a second weekend at the top and yet again it has Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again hard on its heels.

The final figures weren't quite as close as last week with Christopher Robin taking in £2.1 million which brings the films total gross after 10 days to £7.1 million.

Staying at number 2 for the fifth weekend is Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again which takes £1.7 million over the weekend, this brings the films total gross to an amazing £58.7 million.

The Meg stays at number 3 this week with £1.5 million for a £11.7 million total.

Finishing off the top 5 is Incredibles 2 and The Equalizer 2 with £1.26 million and £1.25 million which brings each films totals to £51.2 million and £4.5 million respectively.

Coming outside the top 5 the highest new film of the week is the Spike Lee directed BlackKKlansman which takes £1.24 million for the weekend meaning that there only £200,000 between number 4 and number 6.

Also new this week is The Spy Who Dumped Me at 7 with £1.05 million making the top 7 films all bring in over a million pound each and The Children Act at number 11 with £0.5 million.

Slender Man and Alpha are also new at number 14 and 14.

Debuting at the top of the UK box office this week is Christopher Robin although for the 3rd weekend Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again only just misses out.

A £2.5 million debut gross is just enough to ensure that the Ewan McGregor starring film gets to the top.

The film directed by Marc Foster and has CGI animated versions of your favourite Pooh characters has been met with positive reviews which could give it a good run on the UK box office.

Coming in at number 2 again is the Mamma Mia! sequel which again only just misses out on going back to the top with a £2.2 million weekend gross.

The film is yes again the highest grossing film on the full Monday - Sunday chart with £6.2 million, its total UK gross is now £54 million and its the second highest grossing film of the year, behing Avengers Infinity War.

The Meg falls from the top to number 3 this week with £2.1 million for a total gross of £8.5,million.

New at number 4 is sequel The Equalizer 2 starring Denzel Washington with a £1.9 million debut weekend.

Also new at number 5 is The Festival from the makers of The Inbetweeners which takes £1.4 million on its debut.

This is a far cry from the heights of the two Inbetweeners movies which took £13 million and £12 million respectively on their debuts.

Highest total grossing movie on the UK box office this week is Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.

Mission:Impossible Fallout retains its lead on the US box office this weekend keeping competition from Christopher Robin and The Spy Who dumped me at bay.

A second weekend total of 435 million was enough to make sure that the Tom Cruise franchise movie was at the top for a second weekend, the film now has a domestic US total of $124.4 million after 10 days of release.

Highest new entry of the week is Disneys Christopher Robin which makes its chart debut at 2, the Ewan McGregor movie opens with $25 million.

Also making its debut inside the top 5 is The Spy Who Dumped Me which enters at number 3, the film starring Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon takes $12.3 million on its opening.

Dropping to number 4 this week is Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again with $9 million and also dropping is The Equalizer 2 which is at number 5 this week with a weekend gross of $8.8 million.

Highest total grossing movie on the US chart this week is Incredibles 2 which has now taken over $580 million on its 8 week run.

The first Equalizer film did OK business across the world, clearly enough to warranty a sequel.

Sony Pictures today release the first trailer for The Equalizer 2 starring Denzel Washington in the lead role.

Gritty and full of violence it looks like this film follows in the foot steps of the original - check it out come August 17th.
