With no major releases over the last weekend the horror comedy Freaky remained at the top of the US box office for a second weekend.

The highest entry on the chart was the re-release of 1995's The Santa Clause from Disney while the highest new movie of the week was Vanguard at number 7.

Also new this week is The Last Vermeer at number 9 and Gekijouban Fate/Stay Night: Heaven's Feel - III. Spring Song at number 10, while outside the top 10 Buddy Games came in at 13 and The Forgotten Carols at number 15.

Freaky

Directed by Christopher Landon and starring Kathryn Newton and Vince Vaughn the horror comedy movie spends its second weekend at the top with a weekend gross of $1.22 Million, a 66% drop from last weekend.

This gives the movie a total gross in North America of $5.59 Million after 2 weeks of play.

The War With Grandpa

The surprise hit of late 2020, starring Robert De Niro, climbs back to number 3 as movie takes $733,067 over the weekend, 44% down from last weekend.

This gives the movie a total American gross of $16.18 Million after 7 weeks of release.

Let Him Go

The Kevin Costner former number 1 movie falls to number 3 this weekend with $710,000, 59% drop from last weekend, for a 3 week total of $7.92 Million.

Come Play

Another former number 1 movie remaining at number 4 this week takes $550,000 for the weekend, 49% down, for a total of $8.05 Million after 4 weeks.

The Santa Clause

Disney release another of their catalogue movies which makes its way into the top 5, at 5, as the Tim Allen Christmas movie takes $461,000 over the weekend, the movie has taken $145.29 Million since its release in 1995.

At the UK cinema box office this week we have a new top film in the shape of Paddington Bear who gets a cracking start to his cinematic career.

A £5.1 million opening weekend was enough to dislodge last weeks top film, although only just, The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1 falls into second place with £4.9 million.

With Paddington making the move from TV to the big screen, and is likely to to gross somewhere in the £20 - £30 million region this is bound to be a new franchise in the making.

Also new at 4 this week is a sequel to 2011's Horrible Bosses, aptly named Horrible Bosses 2, a debut weekend of £1.2 million puts it week behind the originals opening.

A year ago - The Hunger Games: Catching Fire managed to hold onto the top of the box office with the highest new film entering at 3 in the shape of Free Birds.

Five years ago - The Twilight Saga: New Moon stayed at the top leaving Paranormal Activity to enter the chart at 2.

Ten years ago - Staying at the top was The Incredibles with the top new film The Forgotten entering the box office at 3.

Fifteen years ago - The World Is Not Enough was the big new film entering at the top of the box office, it ended The Sixth Sense's run at the top.
