Hitting today is the new trailer for the James Gunn directed The Suicide Squad which gives a new and refreshing take on the comic book villain series.

The 2016 version of the source material directed by David Ayer was an interesting and enjoyable, but ultimately flawed, version of the ani-heroes that came out in the midst of the Zack Snyder take on the DC Universe.

That time has passed, and the DC Universe has largely moved on and now James Gunn, who brought us the Marvel Cinematic Universe The Guardians of the Galaxy, takes on the misfit group headed up once again by Margot Robbie who reprises her role as Harley Quinn for a third time.

The comedy here seems slapstick, and the red band trailer hints that this might be a bit more adult than the 2016 take.

There is a hint of '80's action TV show here and I couldn't help but think of The A-Team or Knight Rider as I watched, but still its enjoyable if a bit childish at times.

A new poster (see below) has also been released which backs up this 80's TV show, or Grindhouse cinema, feel.

The movie hits streaming and cinemas across the world with a release date of 6th August 2021 in the UK and USA.

Its the third film in the MCU Avengers series, titled Avengers Infinity War, and the first trailer is a check sheet of who is present.

You can count them all except Hawkeye! Is he not in the movie? Time will tell. You can see Spider-Man in his new outfit and see how the Guardians get introduced into the greater universe.

Check out the trailer below, Avengers Infinity War is released May 2018.

Second week of release for the Guardians of The Galaxy Vol 2 keeps it at the top with A Dogs Purpose coming in at 2 as the highest new film.

With a 50%+ drop in its weekend gross Guardians this week takes £6 million in its box office takings.

This takes the Chris Pratt starring movie to £27.4 million after 10 days of release, the film is current doing almost double the business of the original Guardians movie at this point.

Highest new film of the week is a little known comedy film called A Dogs Purpose, starring Dennis Quaid and directed by Lasse Hallstrom.

It was a US hit a month or so back and after taking £1.3 million on its debut is set to become a hit on this side of the Atlantic as well.

Also new this week is Sleepless at number 6, MIndhorn at number 8 and Unlocked at number 10, a low grossing top 10 this week means all these film took less than half a million on their debut.

This weeks longest stay on the chart is Get Out which has been around for 8 week while top new film is once again Beauty and The Beast which has now taken £71 million and is the 8th top film ever in the UK.

Historical Charts

A year ago - Captain America: Civil War spent its second week at the top of the Uk box office while the top new film was Bad Neighbours 2 at number 3.

Five years ago - Avengers Assemble stayed at the top for a second weekend, it kept off American Pie: Reunion which made its debut at number 2.

Ten years ago - Spider-Man 3 made its debut at the top of the box office, it knocked Next down to number 3 after only a week at the top.

Fifteen years ago - Making it two weeks at the top was About A Boy while the top new film was panic Room at number 2.

Twenty years ago - Jim Carey was the top star of the era and him new film Liar Liar was the top new film at number 1, the Special Edition of Star WarsL Return of The Jedi fell to number 2.

Twenty five years ago - The Hand That Rocks The Cradle made it 3 weeks at the top while Howards End was the top new film, at number 2.

When there is a new Marvel film in town the all others distributers give the film a wide berth, and with the Chris Pratt and Zoe Seldana headed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 the big film nothing else stood a chance.

With an opening gross of $145 million on its debut if nothing stood in its path, the Guardians franchise has become one of Marvels biggest properties and Vol 2 opens over 50% more than the first film.

It is also the 15th consecutive film to debut at number one for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and with a good roster of films going forward there will be no letup.

Falling to number 2 after 3 weeks at the top is The Fate of the Furious (Fast and Furious 8) which takes a still respectable $8.5 million this week which brings its total gross in America to $207 million.

With the release of a Marvel film nothing else dare even think about opening and so there are no other new film this week.

Longest running film and highest total grossing movie on the US box office this week is Beauty and the Beast which is at number 5 this week, has been released for 8 weeks and grossed $487 million.
