Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens is the top selling home video in the UK during 2016 followed by the Bond film Spectre.

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens was a massive hit at the UK box office during the latter part of 2015 and is the highest grossing movie of 2016, despite being released in 2015! On the same note Spectre was a massive hit at the UK box office in 2015, in fact it was the highest grossing movie of 2015.

Surprise hit Deadpool is the third best selling movie of 2016 with the independent film Legend based on the story of the Krays being the fourth.

Finishing off the top 5 is The Lady in The Van, based on the life of writer Alan Bennett and starring Maggie Smith the film was a big hit at the UK box office although not across the globe.

Here is the top 10 best selling home videos of 2016 in the UK.

On the UK video chart this week the Osacar nominated film Bridge of Spies makes its debut at the top.

Bridge of Spies was released at the UK cinemas on 27th November 2015 and made its debut at number 4 of that week with a £1.6 million weekend.

The film had a rather good 8 week run on box office top 15 before dropping out the chart during its awards buzz.

The film managed to make £7.4 million at the UK box office during its run, worldwide the film managed to gross $160.9 million.

Last weeks top film The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 falls in to second place after a couple of weeks at the top.

Also new this week is Fall of The Krays at number 6 and The Lion Guard Return of The Roar at number 19.

At the top of the UK video charts this week the Krays bio-pic Legend remains at the top despite a rush of new films.

The highest of the new film is Maze Runner The Scorch Trials, the sequel to the 2014 film The Maze Runner.

The Scorch Trials was released in UK cinemas on 11 September 2015 and it entered the chart at number 2, behind Legend! A 6 week cinema run saw the film take a UK gross of £8.6 million in the UK, worldwide the film managed $312.3 million making it the 331st highest grossing world wide move, in the US it took $81 million.

Also new this week is: Sicario at number 3, Macbeth at number 4, Miss You Already at number 7 and The Walk at number 8.

There is no move at the top of the UK video chart this week as Disney's Cinderella keeps a tight hold of the number 1 spot for a second week. Highest new film is at number 2, a DTV (direct to video) film about the Kray brothers called Rise of the Krays.

Released to coincide with the cinematic release of Legend starring Tom Hardy as the twin brothers. Rise of the Krays stars Simon Cotton and Kevin Leslie as the twins and documents their early life before their infamy as gangsters.

The film was released in 16th May 2015 but made no impact on the box office.

Also new this week are: Far From The Madding Crowd and number 3, Monsters Dark Continent at 4.
