With no surprise the 25th Bond movie No Time To Die spends a second weekend at the top of the UK box office increasing its UK gross to over £50 Million in 10 days of release.

Coming in second this weekend and making its UK debut is the animated sequel feature The Addams Family 2 while also new this weekend is the horror movie Deadly Cuts at 9 with £s;51,195.

UK box office QuickView

  • Number 1 - No Time to Die (2nd weekend)
  • Highest debut - The Addams Family 2 (@2)
  • Longest run - The Croods: A New Age (12 weeks)
  • Highest total gross - No Time to Die (£52.6 Million)

UK box office top 5 weekend breakdown 8th - 10th October 2021

No Time To Die

No surprises at all that the 25th Bond movie, and Daniel Craigs last, is still at the top on its second weekend, in fact no studio has released anything that could even challenge the movie, that comes next weekend.

The movie takes £15.2 Million on its second weekend which is a resonable 41% drop over its debut, this gives the movie a total UK gross of £52.6 Million.

It's confusing looking at how this compares with other Daniel Craig Bond movies, its not as good as SPECTRE, but in reality that movie had been out for 14 days by this point, its about the same as Skyfall but that movies wasn't released during a pandemic that closed cinemas for nearly 6 months, but its far better than Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale, one thing is for certain, the Daniel Craig era has been the most successful.

The movie is by far the top film of 2021 in the UK.

The Addams Family 2

A sequel to the 2019 animated hit The Addams Family was always going to happen, and after a difficult year for cinema the sequel movie makes its debut at number 2 this weekend.

The movie takes a reasonable £2 Million on its debut, which is very similar to the originals debut at the same time of year in 2019.

Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Marvels smash hit movie falls to number 3 this weekend with a gross of £558,407, a slim 28% drop considering the movie is on its 6th weekend of release.

The total UK gross for the film sits at £20.5 Million, the second highest grossing movie of 2021 in the UK.

Marvel are set to have another good year at the box office after having no new movies for over a year, Black Widow did well a few months ago, and flowing this will be Eternals in a few weeks and Spider-Man: No Way Home in December both of which are setting themselves up to be massive holiday movies.

The PAW Patrol: Movie

The animated kids film continues to do well at the box office and this weekend stays put at number 4 with £125,902, a 50% drop over last weekend, giving the movie a total UK gross of £8.3 Million over 9 weeks of release.

The Many Saints of Newark

The prequel movie to The Sopranos stays put at number 5 this weekend with £125,404, a 47% drop, giving the movie a UK total of £1.8 Million after 3 weeks.

The much delayed new Bond movie makes its debut at the top of the US box office this weekend as No Time To Die knocks off the Venom movie sequel after a week at the top.

The only other new movie on this weeks top 10 is Lamb which makes its debut at number 7 with just over $1 Million in weekend grosses.

US box office QuickView

  • Number 1 - No Time To Die (1st Weekend)
  • Highest debut - No Time To Die (@1)
  • Longest run - Jungle Cruise (11 weeks)
  • Highest total gross - Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings ($212 Million)

US box office top weekend breakdown 8th - 10th October 2021

No Time To Die

Bond movie number 25 makes its debut at the top of the US box office this weekend with a weekend gross of $56 Million.

This is lower than the last three Bond movies, SPECTRE, Skyfall and Quantum of Solace but it is higher than Daniel Craig's first Bond outing Casino Royale.

This is unsurprising as the movie has been delayed many times, but it has had good word of mouth and favourable reviews, but people are still nervous going back to the cinema, but this movie, and a few big future releases, could change that.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage

The Venom sequel movie falls to number 2 on its second weekend of release with $32 Million, a quite large 64% drop over last weekend, which was to be expected.

The movie has now make a total of $141.6 Million so far in the US and it is quite incredibly the 5th top grossing movie of 2021 so far having slipped in between Free Guy and A Quiet Place Part II.

The Addams Family 2

The animated sequel falls to number 2 this weekend with $10 Million taken over the weekend, a 42% drop over its debut last weekend.

this gives the movie a total US gross of $31.1 Million over its 2 weeks of release, the movie could see a boost in a couple of weeks as Halloween hits but then we will see it sink out of the box office chart.

Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

The smash hit Marvel movie falls to number 4 this weekend with a weekend gross of $4.2 Million, a slim 31% drop condering its the movies 6th weekend.

THe movie has now taken an incredible $212.4 Million over its 6 week run and is the top grossing movie, so far, of 2021.

The Many Saints of Newark

The Sopranos prequel movie drops to number 5 this weekend with $1.45 Million, a large 69% drop, giving the movie a 2 weekend total gross of $7.4 Million.

Anticipation was high for the much delayed 25th Bond movie, and the opening weekend gross didn't disappoint and it took most of this weekends box office and produced the highest weekend take since Avengers: Endgame in 2019.

There was one other new release on the UK box office this weekend, Indian threequel movie Chal Mera Putt 3 made its debut at number 6 with £192,957.

UK box office QuickView

  • Number 1 - No Time To Die (1st weekend)
  • Highest debut - No Time To Die (@1)
  • Longest run - The Croods: A New Age and Space Jam: A New Legacy (10 weeks)
  • Highest total gross - No Time To Die (£25.9 Million)

UK box office top 5 weekend breakdown 1st - 3rd October 2021

No Time To Die

It was always going to be a big first weekend for the much delayed 25th James Bond movie, and the last starring Daniel Craig, but there is a suggestion that it actually beat expectation as the movie makes its UK debut with £25.9 Million.

This 3 day (Friday - Sunday) gross is bigger than both Skyfall and SPECTRE (although SPECTRE officially had a 7 day opening of over £40 Million).

The movie has instantly become the top movie of 2021 in the UK beating the £20 Million of Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway.

It's also worth noting that the success and pent up anticipation for this movie effected the rest of the box office quite negatively as the movie took 91% of all money spent at the box office this weekend, meaning that (less than) 1 in every 10 tickets sold was NOT for this movie.

This will certainly get people back in the habbit of going to the cinema again and unlike when Warner release Tenet this time last year, people are ready to go back to cinemas now.

Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

After 4 weeks at the top it is perhaps time for the Marvel superhero to give up the top spot, and as the top movie and this are attracting a similar audience this has suffered quite a bit as the movie take £779,077, a drop of 50% over last weekend.

This gives the movie a 5 week total of £19.6 Million and its the 3rd top movie of 2021 in the UK.

Free Guy

The Ryan Reynolds starring smash hit comedy action movie sits tight at number 3 this weekend with £270,266, a 51% drop, and its largest since relese.

This gives the movie a total gross of £16.5 Million after 8 weeks of release and its the 5th top movie of 2021.

The PAW Patrol: Movie

The kids favourite dogs climb back up the box office from number 7 to number 4 this weekend with a gross of £251,511, an incredible 15% increase over last weekend.

The movie has now taken £8.1 Million over 8 weeks of release.

The Many Saints of Newark

Falling hard this weekend is the prequel movie to The Sopranos which takes £237,150 on its second weekend, a massive 75% drop over last weekend, this gives the movie a total UK gross of £1.5 Million.

Making its debut at the top of the US box office this weekend is the sequel movie Venom: Let There Be Carnage which gives us the best opening weekend of the pandemic, and one of the best October weekends in the US.

Also new this week at number 2 is the sequel animated feature The Addams Family 2 and the prequel movie The Many Saints of Newark which came in at number 4.

Further down the top 10 Indina movie Chal Mera Putt 3 was new at 9 with a debut gross of $644,000 and The Jesus Music was new at 19 with $548,848.

US box office QuickView

  • Number 1 - Venom: Let There Be Carnage (1st Weekend)
  • Highest debut - Venom: Let There Be Carnage (@1)
  • Longest run - Jungle Cruise (10 weeks)
  • Highest total gross - Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings ($206.1 Million)

North American box office top 5 breakdown 1st - 3rd October 2021

Venom: Let There Be Carnage

The Villainous Venom from the Spider-Man universe makes its debut at the top of the US box office this week in the sequel movie which brings in the kind of figures not seen since before the start of the global pandemic.

The movie takes an amazing $90 Million on its debut weekend, and in fact it outgrossed the original Venom movie from 2018 which took $80.2 Million on its debit.

The opening gross of the movie is so good it is the 8th top grossing movie of 2021 in North America after a single weekend.

The Addams Family 2

Another sequel movie is a new entry at number 2 this weekend at the kooky Addams Family make their debut with a weekend gross of $17.3 Million.

The first movie in the animated series too $30 Million in 2019 at the same time of year, but that movie had better word of mouth, still expect this to hang around and do well over the upcoming Halloween season.

Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

After 4 weeks at the top of the North American box office Marvels latest superhero movie falls to number 3 with a weekend gross of $6.1 Million, a large 53% drop over last weekend, not surprising as it targets a very similar audience to Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

The movie is now the top grossing box office film in the US for 2021 with $206.1 Million, it may be a short stay as there are some of the years biggest film released over the coming months, but still its one of the best debuts for a new character in the long running MCU.

The Many Saints of Newark

The Sopranos was a massive TV event between 1999 and when it ended abruptly in 2007, after which its star James Gandolfini died suddenly.

The stars son Micheal Gandolfini takes over from his late father in a prequel movie to the TV series which makes its debut this weekend at number 3 with a gross of $4.6 Million.

Dear Evan Hansen

The musical comedy drama drop to number 5 on its second weekend of release with a gross of $2.4 Million, a large 67% drop over last weekend, this gives the movie a total US gross of $11.8 Million.

Superhero movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings stays put at the top of the UK box office this week making it four weeks consecutively for the Marvel movie.

Highest new film of the weekend is The Sopranos prequel movie The Many Saints of Newark which makes its debut at number 2 while also inside the top 5 is documentary Oasis Knebworth 1996.

The new releases continue with the much delayed The Green Knight finally making its box office debut at number 8 with £166,118.
