No.1 movie: - The Invisible Man which had been at the top for 2 weeks.
Top total grossing and longest run: - 1917 which had taken £43.7 Million over 11 weeks of release.
This weekend saw cinemas close in the UK due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, the box office for this week was from a small number of cinemas that stayed open for a day or two over the weekend.
No.1 movie: - Kung Fu Panda 3 which had been at the top for 2 weeks.
Highest debut: - 10 Cloverfield Lane directed by Dan Trachtenberg and starring John Goodman and Mary Elizabeth Winstead which entered the box office at number 2.
Longest run: - Dads Army which had been on the box office for 6 weeks.
Top total grossing: - Deadpool which had taken £36.8 Million after 6 weeks of release.
No.1 movie: - Rango which had been at the top for 2 weeks.
Highest debut: - Chalet Girl directed by Phil Traill and starring Miquita Oliver and Rick Edwards which entered the box office at number 4.
Top total grossing and longest run: - The Kings Speech which had taken £44 Million over 11 weeks of release.
No. 1 and highest debut: - The Pink Panther starring Steve Martin and Kevin Kline and directed by Shawn Levy
Longest run: - Walk the Line which had been on the box office for 7 weeks.
Top total grossing: - Chicken Little which had taken £13.1 Million after 6 weeks of release.
No. 1 and highest debut: - Enemy At the Gates starring Jude Law and Ed Harris and directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud
Longest run: - Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon which had been on the box office for 11 weeks.
Top total grossing: - Hannibal which had taken £20.2 Million after 5 weeks of release.
No. 1 and highest debut: - Get Shorty starring John Travolta and Gene Hackman and directed by Barry Sonnenfeld
Longest run: - Babe which had been on the box office for 15 weeks.
Top total grossing: - Seven which had taken £19.5 Million after 12 weeks of release.
No. 1 and highest debut: - Look Who's Talking Too starring John Travolta and Kirstie Alley and directed by Amy Heckerling
Longest run: - Home Alone which had been on the box office for 16 weeks.
Top total grossing: - Dances With Wolves which had taken £10.2 Million after 7 weeks of release.
King Fu Panda 3 stays on top of the UK box office for a second week as not much of a challenge enters the market in preparation for an explosion this coming weekend. Panda 3 only needed £1.7 over the weekend in order to stay on top, although the threequel is behind the other 2 in the series at this point.
After 10 days of play the film has a total gross of just over £7 million, the easter holidays are next week so it could hold up well again, although Zootopia will bring major competition.
Highest new film of the week enters at number 2, 10 Clover Field Lane is an odd successor to Cloverfield, but not a sequel.
£1.6 million for the weekend is not a bad entry although opened to £3 million+, this will struggle to meet even that.
Also new this week is: The boy at number 5, High-Rise at number 6 and Kapoor and Sons at number 10.
Highest total grossing film of the week is Deadpool at number 7 with £36 million over a 6 week run.
Historical charts
A year ago - Home had a great first week and debuted at the top knocking The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel down to number 3.
Five years ago - Rango stayed at the top and in a very quiet week of new releases Chalet Girl entered highest at number 4.
Ten years ago - The Pink Panther was the highest new film of the week at number 1 knocking chicken little down to number 4.
Fifteen years ago - Enemy At The Gates entered at the top and it knocked Chocolat down to number 2 after a week at the top.
Twenty years ago - Get Shorty was the top new film of the week entering at the top while Trainspotting fell to number 3.
Twenty five years ago - The Godfather Part III remained at the top of the box office while Awakenings was the top new film making its debut at number 2.
The American Library of congress has added Airplane! and what is arguably the best of the Star Wars movies, The Empire Strikes Back, to the National Film Registry in a year where both films lost key legendary figures
The great Lesley Nielsen turned from a serious actor into a legendary comic actor in Airplane! who died at the end of November and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back was directed Irvin Kershner who died just one day before.
These 2 additions are joined by 23 other film which includes classics such as The Exorcist, The Pink Panther, which also lost its director, Blake Edwards, this year and Saturday Night Fever.
The creator of Star Wars, George Lucas, has two connection with the list, The Empire Strikes Back which he wrote and produced and THX1138 which was his feature film debut.
