Trolls Band Together and Killers of the Flower Moon fought it out for the top spot in this weekend UK box office and The Trolls won the battle with a debut gross over £3 Million.

Killers of the Flower Moon came in second with a debut gross of just over £2.5 Million.

Last weekends top movie, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, drop to 3rd place this weekend and has taken £8.6 Million since its release.

UK weekend box office top 5 breakdown 20th - 22nd October 2023

• Director Martin Scorsese best debut on the UK box office is The Wolf of Wall Street which took £4.6 Million in January 2014.

• The movie goes down the chart to number 3 on this weeks UK box office
• It grosses £2,362,710 over the weekend, a 59% drop from last weekend
• It has a total gross of £8,661,146 over 2 weeks of release

• The movie goes down the chart to number 5 on this weeks UK box office
• It grosses £801,725 over the weekend, a 76% drop from last weekend
• It has a total gross of £4,512,913 over 2 weeks of release

This week making its debut at the top of the UK box office is the critically acclaimed Wolverine movie Logan starring Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart.

The solo Wolverine movies have not had the best of times at either the box office or with critics, but Logan bucks that trend and gets the 78 highest debut weekend in the UK with £9.44 million.

Compared to both X-Men Origins: Wolverine and The Wolverine this is far higher with those films taking £6 million and £4 million respectively, it will do better than both those films.

The Lego Batman Movie falls to number 2 after 3 weeks at the top with a £1.5 million weekend which brings the films total gross to £24.9 million and is currently the second highest grossing movie of 2017.

Also new this week are Viceroys House which is at 3 with £0.9 million and Fist Fight at 10 with £0.4 million.

La La Land is both the longest running film on the UK box office with 8 weeks so far and the highest grossing with £29.8 million, it is also the top grossing film of 2017 so far.

Five years ago - Staying at the top was The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel for a second weekend while the top new film was This Means War at number 3.

Ten years ago - Three weeks at the top for Hot Fuzz meant the top new film was at number 2 in the form of Ghost Rider.

Fifteen years ago - Vanilla Sky held its own at the top, just about, with the top new film making its debut at number 3, Shallow Hal.

Twenty years ago - Mars Attacks made its debut at the top of the UK box office while Ransom fell to number 2 after 3 weeks on top.

A very quiet weekend on the UK box office which has The Lego Batman Movie holding onto the top spot for a third consecutive week.

There is a virtually static top 6 with the Mark Wahlberg starring Patriots Day the top new film at 7.

On its third weekend at the top Lego Batman takes £2.8 million which brings its total gross in the UK to £23 million, compared to The Lego Movie this is still running a shade under.

The film took over £5 million for the period Monday - Sunday which made it the top film for the week as well.

A third weekend at number 2 is therefore in order for Fifty Shades Darker with £1.5 million for the weekend and £20.3 million in total.

With Sing, John Wick Chapter 2, Hidden Figures and The Great Wall all holding tight in the top 6 the highest new film is Patriots Day at number 7.

As mentioned, Patriots Day about the Boston Marathon bombing is the top new film and took £843,380 for the weekend and is one of the actors lowest debuting movies.

La La Land, which had a good, if confusing night at the Oscars this year, takes the honour of being the top total grossing movie this weekend with a total gross of £29 million and the longest running movie with a 7 week run.
