We're into the new year and the first video release after christmas makes it way to number 1 in the shape of Hitman Agent 47.

The film was a small hit at the box office being released on 28th August 2015 where it entered the chart at number 3 with a debut gross of £0.9 million.

Not wanting to hang around for too long the film slid down to number 10 the following week where is then left cinemas.

Largely considered a bomb the film make just shy of £2 million in total at the UK box office, the film didn't fare much better on the world stage where it made $22 million worldwide.

Inside Out fell from the top of the box office, where it stayed for 3 weeks, to number 4 this week.

Other new film this week are: Rise of The Footsoldier Part II which is new at 3, The Transporter Refuelled new at number 10 and Sinister 2 new at 13.

The last instalment in The Hunger Games series makes its debut at the top of the global box office thanks largely to big debuts from the UK and China.

A debut weekend of $247 million globally is on par with the rest of the series and the film should end the series on a strong note, despite lacklustre reviews.

Ending its run at the top after 4 weeks is Spectre which this week adds $80.3 million to its global gross.

A runaway hit for the Bond franchise Spectre has now taken $677.8 million globally, this is on par with Skyfall but that film had good legs unlike Spectre which seems to be tailoring off, $1 billion could be tough.

Spectre is also the highest grossing total gross on the chart this week.

The Night Before is also new on the global stage making its debut at number 6 with $10.1 million.

Here is the full global box office:

  1. Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 - $247,025,000

  10. Hotel Transylvania 2 - $6,575,000

With figures for global box office falling quite low this week the Trip Hop hit Straight Outta Compton bounces back to the top.

Now released in 14 countries Compton took $16.7 million last week to bring it's global total to $168 million, most of that business being in the US.

Last week top film Terminator Genisys takes a tumble this week after its better than expected showing in China and ends up at 6 with $11.6 million from 8 countries, global total is now $435.8 million.

Highest new film of the week is The Transporter Refueled which enters at number 7 with $11.1 million from 19 countries.

The reboot of the popular Transporter series has not set the world alight and sill struggle to stay with the pending holiday season coming.
