Three weeks at the top of the global box office for Jurassic World Dominion as Lightyear enters the box office at number 2 and The Witch 2: The Other One is new at number 4.

World weekend box office top 5 breakdown 17th - 19th June 2022

Spending a third weekend at the top of the global box office the Jurassic World sequel movie which is still released in 73 countries takes $135 Million.

This is a large 58% drop over last weekend and the movie is now the 5th top movie of 2022 globally with $623 Million.

Highest new entry of the weekend is the first Pixar movie to get a cinema release since Onward in 2020.

The gets a release in 44 countries and takes $85.6 Million on its debut to land at number 2, the movie has got very mixed reviews which could effect its performance going forward.

In comparison, Onward took $68 Million on its debut weekend and landed at number 1, but it was not a recognised IP and it was basically the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and people were starting to get nervous about cinemas before the world locked down.

The Tom Cruise high flying sequel has far outdone its expectation and on its 4th weekend drops to number 3 with $83 Million from 65 countries, it is a tiny 19% drop over last weekend.

The movie has now taken an amazing $885 Million globally and is the 2nd top movie of 2022, it is only a matter of time before it tops the list for 2022 and it will most likely top $1 Billion.

The Witch Part 2: The Other One

Sequel movie from South Korean director Park Hoon-jung enters the global box office at number 4 with a weekend gross os $9.9 Million from a single country release of South Korea.

Seven weeks on and the MCU sequel movie takes $6.7 Million and drops to number 5, a 35% drop over last weekend, released still in 52 countries.

The movie is getting close to the Billion dollar mark with $942.4 Million and is currently the top movie of 2022.

It was the SuperBowl in America this last weekend and traditionally the box office suffered, but in the current COVID-19 climate it was worse than normal.

Top of the box office was once again The Little Things and with no new films inside the top 10 the top 5 movies once again just jumped around a bit.

The highest new movie of the week is Earwig And The Witch which entered at number 12 although there was a re-release of The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring which entered at number 8.

The Little Things

Remaining at the top for a second weekend the Denzel Washington, Rami Malek and Jared Leto starring movie made $2.1 Million this weekend, 55% down from its debut last weekend.

This takes the movies total box office gross to $7.8 Million, the movie is also available on HBO Max.

The Croods: A New Age

Remaining at number 2 for another weekend the animated sequel movie takes $1.68 Million on its 11th weekend of release, only 8% down from last weeekend.

This gives the movie a total gross of $45.9 Million, and the movie has been available on digital streaming for over a month now.

The Marksman

Liam Neeson is one of the only actors to have has 2 movies released during the COVID-19 cinema closures, and this week his latest movie takes $959,585, 23% down from last weekend, the movie also jumps 1 place this week to number 3.

After 4 weeks the movie has taken $9 Million, the actors last movie, Honest Thief, had taken $11.17 Million byt the same point in its run.

Wonder Woman 1984

The DC Universe super hero sequel falls to number 4 this weekend with $905,000, a 30% drop from last week, this gives the movie a 7 week gross of $40.3 Million.

Its also worth noting that this movie also got a release on HBO Max the same day as its theatrical release.

Monster Hunter

The Paul W.S. Anderson directed movie has now been on the box office for 7 weeks and this week remains at number 5 with a weekend gross of $391,990, this is 28% down from last week and gives the movie a total of $10.87 Million.

On the UK video charts the sequel movie London Has Fallen makes its debut at the top knocking off The Divergent Series Allegiant.

London Has Fallen how UK cinemas on 4th March 2016 as a sequel to Olympus Has Fallen from 2013, the film hit the top of the box office on its debut weekend.

A sizeable hit the film was on the box office for 5 weeks and then hung around cinemas for another 8 weeks after that.

A £10.9 million total gross in the UK isn't bad for a disaster movie of this kind, but hte film did perform far better in the UK than in other countries, possibly the setting being part of the reason.

After a debut at the top last week The Divergent Series Allegiant falls to number 3 this week with Kung Fu Panda 3 holding firm at number 2.

Other new film this week are The Witch at number 5 and High Rise at number 7, Norm of The North is new at 11 and The Trust debuts at number 12.

Dropping just over 50% in weekend gross this week Deadpool remains at the top of the US box office chart for a second weekend.

A $55 million weekend takes the total gross of the Marvel superhero movie to an really excellent $235.3 million from 10 days of release.

Highest new film of the US box office is the religious drama Risen from director Kevin Reynolds.

The film enters at number 3 with $11.8 million for the weekend.

Also new this week are: The Witch at number 4 and Race at number 6.

Highest total grossing movie on the US box office chart is, yet again, Star Wars: The Force Awakens which has now taken an amazing $921.6 million, by far the highest grossing movie ever in America.

As with the previous 2 week Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the top film across the UK with a weekend gross, slight above the previous week, of £10 million.

The incredible gross of The Force Awakens has now reached £97 million and is the second highest grossing film of all time in the UK sandwiched between 2 Bond films.

At the current rate of ticket sales the seventh Star Wars will become the biggest grossing film of all time in the UK by next weekend beating the £102.8 million of Skyfall.

Elsewhere there are still new films entering the box office and this week the Jennifer Lawrence/Robert De Niro double header Joy is the top new film.

Entering at number 3 the debut weekend gross of the movie is a little over £1.5 million.

Also new on this weeks box office top 10 is Eddie Raymond's new film The Danish Girl at 4 with £1.3 million.

The Force Awakens is understandably the highest total grossing film on the box office while Spectre is the longest running film on the charts clocking up 10 weeks so far.

Historical Charts - A year ago - The Theory of Everything saw the new year in with a debut at the top knocking The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies down to number 2.

Five years ago - Gullivers Travels was the first number 1 of the new making its debut there knocking Little Fockers down to 2.

Ten years ago - The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe stayed at the top for a second week while Cheaper by The Dozen 2 was the highest new film at 3.

Fifteen years ago - Unbreakable was the top new film of the week at number 1 knocking Meet The PArents down to number 2.

Twenty years ago - Ace Ventura When Nature Calls made its debut at number one leaving Babe to fall down to number 2.
