Getting a head start on the box office with a Tuesday release, Ticket To Paradise makes its debut on the box office this weekend at the top when including previews worth £1 Million, Dont Worry Darling comes in at number 2 which would have been on top if counting weekend gross only.

Coming it at number 3 this weekend is the 4K re-release of Avatar giving a bit of comfort to Disney to the popularity of the franchise just before the release of Avatar: THe Way of Water in December.

UK box office QuickView

  • Number 1 - Ticket to Paradise (1st Weekend)
  • Highest debut - Ticket to Paradise (@1)
  • Longest run - Top Gun: Maverick (18 weeks)
  • Highest total gross - Top Gun: Maverick (£83.1 Million)

UK weekend box office top 5 breakdown 23rd - 25th September 2022

Highest new movie this weekend

The movie should have been released last weekend but got delayed due to the passing of The Queen and so its got a Tuesday release this week which by Friday gave it a £1 Million jump on the box office.

The movie starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts in their first team up since the 2016 movie Money Monster takes £2.8 Million on its opening week with £1.7 Million of that taken over the Friday to Sunday weekend.

The movie starring Florence Pugh and directed by Olivia Wilde has caused a fair amount of headlines over the past weeks concerning its star and director not getting on too well, but the movie lands at number 2 on the box office this weekend, and number 1 if you remove the 3 day headstart Ticket To Paradise got.

The movie takes a very respectable £2.7 Million on its debut, which given the controversy and the story of the movie is not bad.

It will be interesting to see the drop off next weekend and if the film can appeal to a broader audience than the hard core fans of the main leads including Harry Styles, Chris Pine, Gemma Chan and Olivia Wilde herself.

Disney are either testing the waters here or trying to get everyone re-invested in 3D and the franchise before the release of the sequel Avatar: The Way of Water in December, but the highest grossing movie of all time gets another shot at box office grosses this weekend.

The movie lands at number 3 this week in an all new 4K, 3D version of the movie with a gross of £1.2 Million which is not bad given the movie has already taken over £90 Million at the UK box office.

It will be interesting to see the drop off next weekend given the rumour that a number of tickets were sold to people thinking this was the sequel.

Last weeks top movie falls to number 4 this weekend after a couple of weeks at the top with a gross of £473,221, a large 52% drop from last weekend.

This gives the movie a total gross of £3.6 Million after 3 weeks at the top.

Landing on the box office last weekend in limited release and becoming the highest debut at number 10 the David Bowie documentary goes wide this week and jumps to number 5 with a gross of £375,398.

This is a 52% increase over last weekend, but no surprise really given the increase in cinema count, the movie has taken £676,185 in total over 2 weeks.

Chris Prat and Bryce Dallas Howard team up with Laura Dern, Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum as they race against time to save the dinosaurs in the new trailer for Jurassic World: Dominion.

The movie is set for release on June 10th and will end the current run of movies in the series as it combines the classic Jurassic Park world with the current Jurassic World world.

Colin Trevorrow returns to direct after missing out on Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and judging from the trailer it a full action popcorn summer blockbuster!

Sony and Marvel have released a new, much anticipated, trailer for the new Spider-Man movie, and it has plenty of multiverse villains, but only one Spider-Man!

The trailer gives more hints to the story, but still leaves many, many question to what is going on.

It looks like there is still only one Spider-Man in the trailer, although there are many quick shots where its hard to see what is happening, but what is clear is Doctor Octopus played by Alfred Molina plays a large part in the movie.

We also get to see Jamie Foxx and Thomas Haden Church as Electro and Sand Man, but although we get a clearer picture of Green Goblin its not revealed who is playing the villain.

There are many many hints about universes coming together, and if Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield are not in the movie then if nothing else its a missed opportunity.

The end shot of the trailer which features Spider-Man and Zendaya's character MJ in a life and death situation is very reminiscent of the end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 which starred Andrew Garfield as the web-slinger and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is released in the UK on 15th December 2021 and in the US on 17th December.
