The movie has now taken just over £25 Million over 10 days of release, which is higher than the original Avatar which has taken $18 Million 10 days into its run.

No doubt the movie will be one of the top movies released in 2022 by the time it finishes its run well into 2023, comparing it to the top movie of 2022, Top Gun: Maverick that movie took &pond;10 Million on its second weekend and £38 Million after 10 days, it has taken over £83 Million in total.

Two weeks at the top now for the James Cameron directed sequel movie which takes $64 Million over the Christmas weekend, and bearing in mind that Christmas Day fell on Sunday this weekend this is a 52% drop.

Comparing this to the first Avatar movie, in 2009 that movie took $75 Million on its second weekend so the sequel is tracking just over $10 Million below.

After 2 weeks the movie has taken $261 Million at the North American box office which is about $50 Million higer than Avatar at this stage.

The movie is already, after 10 days of release, the 8th top movie of 2022.

Highest new movie this weekend

Making its debut at number 2 this weekend is the sequel movie to Puss in Boots which itself is a spin off from the Shrek series of movies.

The movie makes its debut with a gross of $12.4 Million, which is considerably lower than the $34 Million of the 2011 first movie.

The Shrek series started way back in 2001 and was an instant hit with a $42 Million opening for the first movie, Shrek 2 opened in 2004 with $108 Million.

The bio-pic about superstar Whitney Houston and her rise to fame and premature death makes it debut at number 3 this weekend.

A $4.7 Million debut is disappointing and lower than expectations, Oscar buzz might give the movie a bit of a push but the future is looking like a quick release on streaming.

Another movie with an all star Oscar potential cast fails to perform at the box office this weekend as the new Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie double header lands at number 4.

A $3.6 Millon debut for a movie costing $80 Million is not a great result and the studio must be looking at way to increase the exposure of this movie.
