$0This weekend at the US box office Let Him Go hit the top of the US box office on its debut weekend of release pushing last weeks top movie to number 2.
It was a quiet weekend on the box office as cinemas continue to open, then close, then open again in the ever changing circumstances surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.
Inside the top 15 the original Toy Story was also a new release at number 6 and The Dark And The Wicked made its debut at number 11.

Here is a breakdown of this week top 5 movies at the US box office 6th - 8th November 2020.
Starring Diane Lane and Kevin Costner this powerful drama hits the top of the US box office on its debut weekend with $4.1 Million.
It is the highest weekend gross for a movie since Tenet was released back in August and perhaps shows sign of a recovering box office.
The Jacob Chase made its debut at the top of the box office last weekend but falls to number 2 this weekend with $1.73 Million, down 45% from last weekend.
Post halloween this drop would have been expected but it does push the movies total gross to $5.66 Million after 2 weeks of release.
Still inside the top 3 the Robert De Niro starring movie is at number 3 once again with $1.51 Million which is actually an increase of 16% from last weekend.
After 5 weeks of release the movie has taken a very respectable $13.41 Million at the US box office.
Falling to number 4 this week is the Liam Neeson starring revenge movie which takes $1.12 Million, 18% down from last weekend.
The movie has now taken $11.16 Million after 4 weeks of release.
Christopher Nolan's hit movie falls to number 5 this weekend with $905,000, an increase rom last weekend of 2%.
The movie is the highest grossing film of recent time and has now taken $55.1 Million at the US box office.
Due to restriction enforcement in England set by the Government due to large increases in COVID-19 cases cinemas in the UK will be closing their doors for the second time in 2020 from November 5th.
The restrictions, at the moment, are to be set in place until 2nd December, but there is every possibility that when it comes to public places like shops, bars and yes cinemas, it will take a bit longer to open up.
This means that there will likely be no box office to report in the coming weeks, and the reopening which could take a couple of weeks, will be slow with very few blockbuster film released.
Which films is this going to effect? It has been mainly small indie film which have enjoyed the exposure over the last couple of months, and in the coming week there were no sizeable film scheduled.
Ryan Reynolds next movie Free Guy is coming on 11th December, things may have re-opened by a week by then but this could be sent to 2021, also there is every possibility that it could see a digital release
On the 18th of December there is Death On The Nile from Kenneth Branagh, which may see a schedule change and just as easily it could go direct to streaming.
Coming 2 America has been sold to Amazon Prime and will make its debut on that platform around the same time frame.
Wonder Woman 1984 is the next big blockbuster due for release and there is every possibility that this will be pushed to spring 2021 , altohugh if this happens then there will be another round of schedule changes as we have Raya And The Last Dragon, Morbius and the much delayed No Time To Die all set around to debut around Spring.
Its yet another blow for the cinema industry and with many major companies already struggling how many closures can cinemas handle before going down.
Streaming is not the way most people want to see big blockbusters, but we also want to feel safe when we go out to enjoy a new movie, time will tell but lets hope this closure controls the virus and cinemas make the necessary safety measures so we can enjoy what could be a blockbuster packed 2021.

We all knew it was coming but hoped that maybe somehow things would improve, but with the slow reopening of cinemas and paying audiences still not feeling safe many films have had their release schedules changed.
Among them are Black Widow, Eternals, Death On The Nile, Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and West Side Story, most of which have now gone into 2021 which at the moment seems like a safer bet.
Black Widow starring Scarlett Johansson has changed to May 7th 2021 and is perhaps one of the biggest to have a change, this could still see a debut on Disney+ if things don't improve quick enough.
West Side Story from director Steven Spielberg has gone on a whole year to December 10th 2021, this originally set to be a big 2020 holiday movie and Oscar contender.
Interestingly Denis Villeneuve's adaptation of Dune which was set to be released the same day has not (yet) moved from December 18th 2020.
Death On The Nile has moved to December 18th 2020, not into 2021 yet but it is the same day as Dune and (which I'm sure will move) and long awaited comedy sequel starring Eddie Murphy, Coming 2 America, although with no trailer or poster yet this will move to same time in 2021 at some point.
Eternals, another Marvel feature, has moved to later in 2021, November 5th, and also from Marvel Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has changed to July 9th.
With the UK about to go back into some kind of lockdown the state of cinemas is looking as uncertain as ever, it is being suggested that Tenet's box office was effected because Warner Bros. opened the movie when people were simply not ready to go back to the movies.
There needs to be a breakthrough in overcoming the virus and cinema chains regaining the trust of the public before things will truly recover and that could be more like the end of 2021 in reality.

The film billed as the saviour of cinema for many weeks and months has finally been released as Christopher Nolan's much anticipated Tenet is seen across much of the world with a debut inside the global top 5.
The movies release is the first sign that cinemas are starting to open across the globe albeit with social distancing and mandatory mask wearing in many territories.
The top movie of the week is still The Eight Hundred but there are also new releases from The New Mutants, and missing out on a debut on the top 5 Bill And Ted Face The Music, although there is a good reason for that!

The Chinese movie has done massive numbers in its native territory and this weekend remains at the top of the global box office with a take of $161 Million.
This brings the movies total global gross to $277 Million after 3 weeks of release and may soon to become the top movie globally of 2020.
The world has waited a long time, not only for this new movie from Christopher Nolan which has been delayed a couple of time but for a movie which audiences can get excited about since cinemas closed in the middle of March die to the coronavirus pandemic.
With many countries, especially America, still not opening cinema doors, and with many countries having limited capacity the movies total box office gross is lower than could have been, the movie took $53.6 Million and there is no way of telling at the moment if thats good or bad!
As more countries open and cinemas relax their limited capacity even more this movie could hang around for a while, even if Warner Bros. decide to release it onto streaming quite quick.
With the Chinese cinema open more than most other countries its no surprise that films from their box office are doing well.
Moving to number 3 this week is this love story which takes $9.9 Million over the weekend taking its total gross to $60.5 Million.
The X-Men universe movie has had a troubles time with release dates, originally scheduled for a 2018 release then delayed, then hit with more delays due to the COVID-19 closures, but its finally made it to cinemas and enters the global box office at number 4 with just under $10 Million.
Like fellow new entry Tenet the movie got released in a handful of cinemas and is still yet to be released in much of the world, so expect a growing gross over the coming weeks, although a Disney+ release can be expected soon.
Pixars latest movie falls to number 4 this weekend with $6 Million giving the movie a global gross of $141 Million over 25 weeks of release.
Although cinemas are far from back to normal in the US many cinemas have opened, although with limited capacity and many are making their audiences wear masks which are putting people off going back, The New Mutants tops the weekend with the closest thing to a pre-pandemic gross since mid March.
The Mutant movie was joined by Bill And Ted and David Copperfield as new releases on the top 5 which the top 3 all grossed over a million dollars.
There are a number of other bog new films released in the comping weeks including Tenet, Wonder Woman 1984 and Black Widow which should all mean a growth in cinema going.

The movie had a troubled journey to the cinema having its release date movies a number of time, more recently because of the coronavirus but also due to scheduling problems and the 20th Century Fox buyout from Disney.
It has finally got the cinema and whether by design or not it is the first big release to hit the top since cinemas closed in mid March and it does so with a $7 Million debut.
After hitting the top last weekend the Russell Crowe movie falls to number 2 this weekend with $2.6 Million giving the movie a $8.8 Million total after 3 weeks.
The movie should have come out earlier in the year before it was announced it would get a simultaneous movie theatre and VOD release.
The movie lands on the box office at number 3 with a debut gross of just over a million dollars, digital number are hard to come by.
The movie hit the Uk box office back in January of this year and was a sizeable hit, after a couple of delays the movie hits US movie theatres with a $520K debut weeekend.
After entering the box office at number 3 last weekend the Thor Freudenthal directed movie falls to 5 with a weekend gross of $453K.
This takes the movies total gross to $1.08 MIllion after 2 weeks on the box office.
