The latest, and last, animated film, The Boy and the Heron, from celebrated director Hayao Miyazaki hits the top of the US box office on its debut weekend with $12.8 Million.

This is by far the greatest US opening for a movie from Studio Ghibli who's previous top opening was Ponyo from 2008 which took $3.5 Million on its opening
