For the second week there was no stopping blockbuster IT as its makes a global gross of $120.3 million from 57 countries to remain on top.

The Stephen King adaptation from Warner Bros. is doing great business at the world box office and has now taken $371.3 million in total and should get to $500 million easily.

War For the Planet of The Apes opened in China this last week and did great business pushing the film back to number 2 with a weekly global gross of $63.2 million from 22 countries.

The film has been around a while now and is just shy of the half billion mark in global grosses with $433.7 million.

Highest new film of the week is American Assassin which makes its debut at number 3 this week with $21 million from 42 countries.

top total grossing movie on the top 10 this week is Spider-Man Homecoming which this week takes its total global gross to $861.2 million after a $16 million week from 44 countries.

In a summer of superheroes, Apes and Pirates it was a was film which out grossed everything with few stars but a visionary director who is a master of storytelling.

Christopher Nolan has become one of the most prolific directors in modern cinema and he took the moving story of Dunkirk to the top over the summer to the tune of £53 million.

It was by far the top film of the summer season with the closest competitor at number 2 Spider-Man Homecoming which brought home just why of £30 million.

Next up is the highest grossing film ever from a female director in the shape of Wonder Woman which grossed £22 million while the apes rules at number 4 with War For The Planet of The Apes grossing £20 million.

IN recent years a new Pirates of the Caribbean film would have meant big money but Pirates of The Caribbean: Salazars Revenge came in at 5 with under £20 million, far less than previous entries.

Looking further down the top films of the summer in the UK Guardians of The Galaxy Vol 2 was the sixth top film while Alien: Covenant was the seventh and Baby Driver the eight.

Rounding out the top 10 is The Emoji Movie at nine and finally Cars 3 at number ten, another film which is suffering from series fatigue and has done far worse than the others in the series.

Looking forward to the holiday season ahead we can expect top film from IT to Kingsman The Golden Circle, Blade Runner 2049 to Thor: Ragnarok and Justice League to Star Wars: The LAst Jedi.

The last in the trilogy of Planet of The Apes prequel movies opens at the top of the Uk box office this week knocking Spider-Man Homecoming off after just a single week.

War For The Planet of The Apes which stars Woody Harrelson and Any Serkis hits the top with a weekend gross of £7.1 million, a very good gross for a critically praised film.

The trilogy of films has been constant on its debut and this does better than Rise but not quite at good as Dawn's £8 million debut.

With this in mind I'd expect this to end its run in the £30 million region.

Spider-Man Homecoming falls to number 3 this week leapfrogging over Despicable Me 3 by the tightest of margins with a £3.7 million weekend.

This brings the films total gross to £16 million after 10 days of release and is looking set to match the first Spider-Man film from 2002.

Despicable Me at number 2 took £3.8 million and has now grossed £26 million from 3 weekends of release.

For the Monday - Sunday week the top film would have been Spider-Man with a £7.4 million weekly gross with Apes second and Despicable Me 3 third.

For the third weekend running The Boss Baby is the longest running film with 15 weeks and the highest grossing with £28 million.
