Released in the UK this weekend, Friday, 16th July 2021, there are 7 movies looking to take your viewing attention and where available could hit your local cinema and try and replace Black Widow from the top of the UK box office.

The good news is we got a box office chart this weekend, the bad news is only due to the lockdown effecting most of the UK only 22 cinemas were open and the top movie took most of its weekend gross from the previous weekend!
Documentary feature The Three Kings was the top movie of the weekend, it knocked off Two By Two: Overboard! to number 3, but the whole top 15 took just over £19,00.
Outside the top 5, sequel movie A Christmas Gift From Bob made its debut at 9 with £757.

The documentary feature from Jonny Owen makes its debut at number 1 with a weekend gross of £3,521, altohugh £3,470 was from preview screenings meaning it took £51 over the weekend which would have given Honest Thief the top position.
The film is about 3 of the greatest Scottish footballer managers of all time, and with most, if not all, cinemas in the UK allowed to open are in Scotland during the lockdown this is perhaps no surprise.
This is a number 1 due to extreme and unique circumstances, congratulations to Jonny Owen and the film makers for the number 1 but I suspect the movie will disappear next weekend.
Jumping back up to number 2 is the Liam Neeson vehicle which takes £2,922 over the weekend, 98% down from last weekend which gives the movie a £651,408 total after 3 weeks.
Falling from the top to number 3 is the animated movies about animals on the ark which takes £2,374 over the weekend, 99% down from last weekend.
The animated feature has had a great box office run in the COVID-19 era and has not taken just under a million pound over 3 weeks.
Entering the box office at number 4 this weekend is director Thor Freudenthal movie which takes £1,709 on its debut weekend.
Adapted from the children's novel and starring starring Julie Walters, Colin Firth the movie drops to number 5 this weekend with £1,709, a 99% drop, which gives the movie a total gross of £664,051.
As cinemas in the UK close their doors for a second time in 2020 due to a government enforced lockdown to control the COVID-19 pandemic this weeks new releases are slim and share a same date release with a home digital release. Although cinemas are far from back to normal in the US many cinemas have opened, although with limited capacity and many are making their audiences wear masks which are putting people off going back, The New Mutants tops the weekend with the closest thing to a pre-pandemic gross since mid March.
The Mutant movie was joined by Bill And Ted and David Copperfield as new releases on the top 5 which the top 3 all grossed over a million dollars.
There are a number of other bog new films released in the comping weeks including Tenet, Wonder Woman 1984 and Black Widow which should all mean a growth in cinema going.

Unhinged takes the honor as being the first 'wide' release of the pandemic era as the Russell Crowe movie goes to the top of the box office knocking SpongeBob into second place.
Elsewhere on the chart Words On Bathroom Walls is the top new film while Cut Throat City is also new inside the top 5.

A new entry at number 2 last week thanks to its Canadian release the movie expands into over 1800 American movie theatres this week and with seating capacity limits due to social distancing and with people still wary of going to indoor movie theatres the movie takes $4 Million over the weekend.
The Derrick Borte has now taken $5.05 Million and is now by far the most success film during the pandemic to hit theatres.
A new entry at number 1 last week on its Canadian release the movie falls to number 2 this week again thanks to being released in US movie theatres and takes $550K over the weekend.
Two weeks in and the animated feature takes $1.4 Million.

Re-entering the box office again is the 1985 Richard Donner classic which is at number 4 this weekend with $260K, the movie has now taken over $63 Million in the US.
Directed by rapper RZA and starring Eiza Gonzalez and Ethan Hawke this new movie enters the box office at number 5 with a weekend gross of $240K.
