  • It stars Leonardo DiCaprio who also starred in The Aviator (2005).
  • The film also stars Jennifer Lawrence who last appeared in X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019).

The King's Man

As the hunger for Tenet starts to slow down across the globe it remains at the top of the global box office with a narrow lead over the Chinese movie The Eight Hundred which sits at 2.

With a reflection on how movie studios are once again concerned about the release of their films waiting for an audience there is no new films on the top end of the global box office with the highest debut Infidel at 7 with $1.3 Million.

Tenet

The buzz is starting to slow down now but Warner Bros. is seeing the movies box office run as a long term thing rather than short term, this weekend the film took $25.4 Million.

The film has now taken $217.2 Million worldwide after 4 weeks of release.

The Eight Hundred

The Chinese movie that has taken nearly half a billion dollars in its native alone has started to get a release across the rest of the world and this week takes $17.7 Million.

Altohugh its not expected the movie will be as successful outside of China it will be one of the top films of the year (because of COVID-19) and so far had a total global gross of $425 Million.

Mulan

With the Disney movie going direct to VOD in much of the world the box office taking have been severely effected, altohugh tepid reviews wont have helped as the movie takes $10.9 Million this week largely from China.

This pushes the movies total global gross to $57 Million, Disney have not given and VOD data for America or Europe so its hard to compare.

In comparison over the last few years the Disney live action remakes have largely grossed over a Billion collars worldwide.

After We Collided

This sleeper hit from director Roger Kumble is at number 4 this weekend with a weekend gross of $3.8 Million giving the movie a $28.5 Million total after 4 weeks of release.

The New Mutants

At number 5 is the Disney mutant movie which has been given such a hard time, taking $3.5 million over the weekend it has a $35 million total after 4 weeks.

Although not really a fair comparison the last X-Men movie X-Men: Dark Phoenix took $252.4 Million worldwide!

At the UK box office this weekend, Friday, 6th September 2019, there is just 1 new releases looking to take your attention at a local multiplex and knock Once Upon A Time ... In Hollywood from the top of the UK box office next week.

IT Chapter Two

The big new release at cinemas this week is IT Chapter Two , a Horror film directed by Andy Muschietti who also directed Mama in 2013 which grossed £5.3 Million.

It stars Jessica Chastain who last starred in X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019) and James McAvoy who also last appeared in X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019). -

Disney's Aladdin is the first film this year to manage 4 weeks at the top of the box office and in the process manages to keep another potential big hit from the top in the shape of Men In Black International which makes its debut at 2.

Aladdin

The Will Smith Starring movie stays at the top of the UK box office this week with a weekend gross of £2.9 Million.

This takes the films total UK gross to £30.4 Million after 4 weeks of release.

Adjusted for inflation this is still not as high as the original 1993's roughly £38 Million.

Men In Black International

The new Men In Black film takes the runner up spot this week with the film unable to knock the Disney movie from the top.

The Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth starring movie debuts with £2.8 Million, this is lower than any of the other 3 Men In Black film, although compared to part 3 it is almost the same.

Rocketman

The Elton John film is at 3 this week with a weekend gross of £1.6 Million which pushes the film to &"pound;19.2 total after 4 weeks.

The Secret Life of Pets 2

Four weeks in and the animated feature takes £1.5 Million for a £16.8 Million total gross.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix

This are looking bad for the latest X-Men movie as it falls to number 5 on its second weekend with a gross of £1.04 Million.

This pushes the films total gross to £5.9 Million and it will be the lowest grossing movie in the 20th Century Fox series.

Avengers: Endgame

Falling to number 12 this week the Marvel hit is on its 8th weekend of release and has taken £87.7 Million.

The Men In Black are back and hit the top of the global box office on their debut weekend of release leaving X-Men: Dark Phoenix to drop from the top after only a week.

Men In Black International

The series started way back in 1997 and over 20 years later we get the fourth film with new stars and an international setting.

Unfortunately the Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth starring movie has not done nearly as well as the previous film and globally grosses $102.2 million from 57 countries on its debut.

Aladdin

Its been a bit of a slow burner but the Will Smith starring Disney live action film is still at 2 with a global take of $64.2 million from 56 countries.

This pushes the films total gross to a very acceptable $724.8 million after 4 weeks of release.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix

After making its debut at the top last week the X-Men film falls to number 3 this week with $33.2 million from 56 countries.

The film has now taken a global gross of $204.2 million afer 2 weeks.

The Secret Life of Pets 2

The animated movie takes $32.2 million from 37 countries this weekend for a total gross of $154.5 million after 4 weeks of release.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters

The Godzilla sequel takes $22 million from a whopping 80 countries this weekend and is at 5 on the global box office, the films total gross is $339.4 after 3 weeks of release.

Shaft

The Samual L. Jackson film is the second highest new film this week at number 9 with a global gross of $8.3 million from a single country of release.

Avengers: Endgame

The Marvel movie is struggling to beat Avatar and this week sits at number 12 on the box office with a total gross of $2.742 million.

It has been announced that the film will be pushed at the cinemas again next week with an extra bonus added to the film, it might just be enough to push it past Avatar.
