Zombieland 3: Release Date & Story Details  imdb Mon, 19th June 2023

After being knocked off the top of the North American box office last weekend by Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil, Joker jumps back to the top with a very narrow margin while horror movie Countdown is the top new film.

A very interesting week on the US box office with 2 very close races, first the fight for the top, the original figures showed Joker going reclaiming number 1, but when the final figures came in not only were they higher than originally though but Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil had retained the top spot.

Also we have the other end of the top 5 where new entry Countdown was originally reported as coming in at 5 below Zombieland: Double Tap, but when the final figures were released, it was close, but the films flipped positions.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil

Disney's Angelina Jolie starring movie retains the top spot for a second weekend with a gross of $19.3 Million, it is only $120k above the weekend gross of Joker.

The film total gross after 2 weeks of release is $66.2 Million which is perhaps a little disappointing for Disney after the marketing they put into the movie.

Joker

The DC villain movie starring Joaquin Phoenix takes $19.2 Million and remains in the runner up spot for a second weekend.

The movie only narrowly was beat by the Maleficent sequel to return to the top and in early figures was the top film of the weekend.

The movie has now taken a US total of $277.9 Million after 4 weeks and is the highest grossing R rated movie.

The film is also the top total grossing movie on this weeks top 10 charts.

The Addams Family

As we enter Halloween week the Kookie family is at number 3 this week with $11.7 Million and has a total gross of $72.8 Million after 3 weeks.

Countdown

Highest new film of the week land down at number 4 with this shock horror movie which manages $8.8 Million on its debut weekend.

With Halloween this coming weekend the film MAY get a little boost but this movie will probably move to streaming in the coming weeks.

Zombieland: Double Tap

Another sequel which is perhaps performing a bit below expectation as the Zombieland sequel takes $8.7 Million and sits at number 5 this weekend.

This takes the films total gross to $44.1 Million after 2 weeks of release.

It may have been a quiet weekend at the global box office but its still quite an achievement for Better Day to be released in a single country and top the global box office, Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil was very close but falls to second place.

Better Days

Directed by Derek Tsang the tale of love and murder makes its way to the top with a debut weekend of $85.3 Million.

The film has been well received and as it opens in more territories it should hang around for a while.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil

The Disney sequel falls from the top to number 3 this week with a global weekend take of $82.8 Million from 57 countries.

This put the films global gross at $293.5 Million after 2 weeks of release with $300 Million in its sights before next weekend.

Joker

The DC smash villain movie falls to number 3 this weekend with $66.7 Million form 80 countries.

This puts the films total gross at an amazing $849 Million after 4 weeks, just shy of $850 Million, but the film must have $1 Billion in its sights.

The Addams Family

Were nearly at Halloween so the spooky Kooky family are preparing themselves for a (possible) just up the box office, in the mean time they sit at number 4 this week with $22.2 Million from 19 countries for a $84 Million total after 3 weeks.

Zombieland: Double Tap

The Zombieland sequel falls to 5 this week with $12.8 Million from 41 countries for a $63.6 Million total after 2 weeks.

Terminator: Dark Fate

Worthy of note this week is the new entry of the next terminator film which makes its debut at number 7 with $16.7 Million altohugh it has only been released in 10 countries with most others in the coming weeks.

Todd Phillips movie Joker stays at the top of the Uk box office for another weekend despite challengers from 3 new comers to the chart inside the top 5 with Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil by far the top grossing of the new movies.

Joker

The Joaquin Phoenix starring film about the Batman villain makes it a third week in a row at the top of the UK box offie with a take of a fantastic £5.5 Million.

This pushes the film total gross to £40.3 Million, far greater than expectation and its the 5th top grossing movie of 2019, it will overtake Captain Marvel by next weekend.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil

The sequel movie from Disney starring Angelina Jolie makes its UK debut at number 3 with a fairly respectable weekend gross of £3.3 Million.

Compared to the original movie this is roughly half that films debut gross, but the UK bucks the trend of much of the world where the film seems to have bombed.

The film has got fairly bad reviews from critics which wont have helped, but the paying audiences have been more in favour, so in the coming weeks word of mouth might help.

A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon

The new film from Aardman Animation come in at number 3 this week with a gross of £1.3 Million.

Again this is a sequel movie which has not done at well as the previous movie, Shaun The Sheep Movie, and come in a little better than half as the film took just over £2 Million on its debut.

Zombieland: Double Tap

Another sequel comes in at number 4, this time is a followup 10 years in the making as the new Zombieland film comes in with a debut gross of £1.2 Million.

The audience for zombie movies has clearly not changes as the original movie came in with an almost identical debut gross.

Abominable

Dreamworks animates tale falls to number 5 this week with a gross of a shade under £1 Million which puts the films total after 2 weeks at £3.2 Million.

Toy Story 4

Pixars animated sequel does the double this week as its the top total grossing movie with £66 Million and the longest total run at 18 weeks, its at number 15 this week so it could be the movies last weekend on the box office.

Disney's new film Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil makes its debut on the US box office at the top, but there is a cautionary take for the studio, Joker falls to number 2 and Zombieland 2 also makes a quiet entry.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil

Directed by Joachim Rnning the sequel to the 2014 movie Maleficent makes its debut at the top, but whereas the first movie took a very respectable $70 Million on its release this movie takes $36 Million.

This could be seen as diminishing returns on a sequel, but when the likes of Toy Story 4 and Avengers: Endgame have brought in big bucks for the studio its more that this is a sequel no-one asked for.

Also not helping is the negative reviews from the critics, although the paying audiences have been far nicer about the movie.

Joker

After a couple of weeks at the top the Todd Phillips directed DC villain movie falls to number 2 this week with $29.2 Million.

This puts the films total gross in the US at a far better than expected $247.2 Million after just 3 weeks of release, the next milestone is $300 Million but the studio must be thinking $400 Million is not impossible.

Zombieland: Double Tap

Ruben Fleischer's sequel to his 2009 zombie movie hits the box office at number 3 this week with a debut gross of $26.7 Million.

This is in the same ball park at the original movie, and taking inflation into account is more or less the same which means that the audience for zombie comedies as not changed in 10 years!

The Addams Family

The animated version of the Kookie, Spookie family falls to number 4 this week with $16 Million pushing its total US gross to $56.8 Million after 2 weeks of release.

Gemini Man

The Will Smith vehicle falls to number 5 on its second weekend with a disastrous $8.5 Million taking its total to $36.5 Million.

IT Chapter Two

The sequel to the Stephen King book may not have been as well received as the original movie but this week its has the longest run on the box office at 7 weeks and has taken $209.6 Million so far, it could get a small boost over the coming weekends as Halloween is here.

Three new film inside the top 5 this week gives the global box office a new number 1 film as Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil makes is mark, meanwhile Zombieland: Double Tap and One Piece: Stampede are also new.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil

Disney's sequel starring Angelina Jolie makes its debut on the global box office this week and easily does so at the top with a weekend take of $153 Million from 57 countries.

The Mouse House will be celebrating with the success of another franchise film, but with caution as the film has come no-where near the opening gross of the original movie.

The movie has had a good response from paying movie goers despite being panned by critics which could be part the reason for the lower than expected debut, or it could be just that no one really wanted this sequel!

Joker

After a couple of weeks at the top the much praised DC villain movie falls to number 2 with a weekend gross of $107 Million from 80 countries.

This puts the Joaquin Phoenix starring movie at a total gross of $737.5 Million on its third weekend and the studio will surely be looking at the $1 Billion mark being possible for the movie.

Gemini Man

The Will Smith starring movie has been a bit of a bomb at the box office and this week falls to number 3 with $41.9 Million from 60 countries.

The film has been in global cinemas for 3 weeks now and has a total gross of just $118.7 Million.

Zombieland: Double Tap

10 years after the first film the Zombieland franchise now gets a sequel which makes it global debut at number 4 this week with $32 Million from just 18 countries.

The original film has a cult following and the sequel is largely relying on that to pull in the audience, but the reviews have been a little tepid for the film.

One Piece: Stampede

The Chinese language animation makes its debut at number 5 this week with a gross of $21.8 Million from just 3 countries.

The movie has actually been in Cinemas since the beginning of August in Japan and has in the last week expanded to Europe, hence has taken a quite respectable $78.4 Million so far.
