US Box Office Weekend Report 15th - 17th July 2022: Thor 4 remains at the top for a second weekend with Where The Crawdads Sing debuting at number 3

Thor: Love and Thunder
Thor: Love and Thunder unsurprisingly stays at the top of the North American box office on its second weekend of release dropping by 68% from its debut last weekend.

Highest new movie of the weekend is Where the Crawdad's Sing at number 3 while there are also new entries for Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank at number 6 with $6.2 Million, Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris at number 9 with $1.9 Million and Gone In the Night at number 13 with $121,000.

Thor: Love and Thunder

Spending a second weekend at the top of the US box office is the latest in the Marvel movies produced and released by Disney.

The fourth Thor movie takes $46 Million this weekend which is 68% down from the previous weekends gross.

This gives the movie a total US gross of $233 Million which makes the movie the 6th top film of 2022.

Remaining at number 2 for a second weekend is the sequel movie to Minions which takes $26 Million in its third weekend of release, a resonable 44% drop.

The movie has now taken $262.5 Million in North America and is the 5th top movie of 2022.

Where The Crawdads Sing

Highest new movie of the weekend is the adaptation of the Delia Owens released in 2018, the movie stars Daisy Edgar-Jones and Taylor John Smith and is directed by Olivia Newman.

It takes $17 Million at the US box office on its debut weekend of release.

Eight weeks on for the Tom Cruise starring sequel from 1986's Top Gun which this weekend takes $12 Million, a small 23% drop for a movie 8 weeks in its box office run.

The movie has now taken an amazing $617.9 Million at the North American box office and is the top movie of 2022 where it could stay till year end.

The movie has also climbed up the all time US box office and is currently the 12 top movie ever in North America.

The Elvis Presley bio-pic from director Baz Luhrmann drops to number 5 this weekend with a gross of $7.6 Million, a 32% drop, giving the movie a total US gross of $106.2 Million after 4 weeks of release.
