It was a tight fought battle at the top of the UK box office this weekend between Night School and last weeks top film The House With A Clock In Its Walls but the new comer won in the end.

Night School

Taking iver at the top the new romantic comedy starring Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish took the top with £1.59 million, a very slim margin of £0.05million.

Kevin Hart has appeared in some high profile film including Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle so this is a fairly low opening for him, for Tiffany Haddish who starred is the £8 million Girls Trip from 2017 this will go down as her second highest grossing film in the UK.

The House With a Clock In Its Walls

Taking top honors that week the Jack Black starring film nearly repeated this week but gets knocked down to 2 taking £1.54 million for the weekend, this boosts the films total to £5.5 million after 2 weeks.

A Simple Favour

The Paul Feig directed film falls to number 3 this week with just over a million pound weekend gross which takes to films UK gross to £3.4 million after 2 weeks.

Crazy Rich Asians

The American smash hit comedy is still doing well in the UK, although not bringing in the same success as across the pond, but a £0.7 million weekend puts the film at number 4 this week and boosts the total gross to £4.8 million.

The Nun

Halloween may be just around the corner but this horror film will be out the charts by then, sitting at 5 this week with a £0.6 million weekend brings it to a very respectable £10.5 million UK gross.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again

The sequel has done amazingly well in the UK and is the top total grossing film again this week, dropping to number 13 this week the film has a UK total gross of £65 million.

It probably wont outgross the original movie's £69 million which for a time was the UK's top film but it will be in the same ball park.

Another change at he top of the US box office this week as romantic comedy Night School takes over from The House With a Clock In Its Walls on its debut weekend.

Night School

Starring Tiffany Haddish and Kevin Heart the Malcolm D. Lee directed movie took $28 million on its debut weekend of release wich was enough to take it to the top despite the poor critical response.

Smallfoot

Coming in at number 2 this week the animated comedy starring the voice of Channing Tatum could quite beat Night School and took $23 million for the weekend.

The House With a Clock In Its Walls

Falling from the top to number 3 this week on its second weekend the film took $12.5 million boosting its total US gross to over $44 million.

A Simple Favour

Dropping to number 4 this week the Paul Feig directed film takes $6.6 million on its second weekend to take its total US gross to $43 million.

The Nun

Finishing of the top five the horror film based in the Conjuring universe takes $5.4 million on its fourth weekend of release to take its total cume to $109 million making its top grossing film the the film universe.

The big film of the week is from director Eli Roth who is more known for his gore slasher and violent movies, but here delivers a family friendly tale of magic and wonder.

The House With a Clock In Its Walls

The film stars Jack Black and Cate Blanchet and makes its debut on the UK box office with £3.3 million, for Black and Blanchet who have starred in some big profile movies this is a low gross but for Roth this is a good opening weekend.

A Simple Favour

Also new this weekend is A Simple Favour from director Paul Feig, it is his first directing outing since the critically panned Ghostbusters reboot from 2016.

Opening to £1.6 million it does well for the director, the film stars Anna Kendrick and Linda Cardellini.

King of Thieves

Doing well at number 3 is King Of Thieves which takes £1.5 million on its second weekend to bring the Michael Cain film to £3.7 million total.

Crazy Rick Asians

Crazy Rick Asians has a good second weekend at number 4 on the box office and takes £1.1 million, down only a small amount from last weeks debut, this brings the film to £3.5 million total gross.

The Nun

Finally at number 5 is horror film The Nun which takes £1 million for the weekend taking its total gross to just under the 10 million pound mark.

The Predator

Last weeks number 1 film takes a massive tumble down the chart this week to number 7, its total gross is now £3.8 million after a £0.6 million weekend.

At the US box office this weekend The Predator made a return to the box office in a reboot movie and despite bad reviews took the top spot.

Taking a weekend gross of $24 million the sixth movie to feature the famed hunter took over at the box office with ease, although it took less on its debut than the 2010 movie Predators which took $24.8 million.

Falling into the runner up spot this week is THe Nun which takes $18.2 million on its second weekend of release.

THis brings the films total US gross to $85 million after 10 days of release, this film took a massive tumble in its second weekend but will still be a top entry in the Conjuring series of films.

New at number 3 is A Simple Favour directed by Paul Feig in his first film since the miss he had with Ghostbuster.

The film which stars fan favourite Anna Kendrick takes a reasonable $16 million on its debut weekend on the US box office.

Also new this week is White Boy Rick which stars Matthew McConaughey, the film takes $8.8 million on its debut.

Falling to number 5 this week is Crazy Rich Asians with $8.7 million, the film has done incredibly well and has a US debut of $149.5 million to date.
