Marvel's Avengers: Endgame sits at the top of the US box office again as a number of new release come in and try to de-thrown it with Pokemon: Detective Pikachu coming closest.
The Marvel mega hit film spends its third weekend at the top of the US box office with a weekend gross of $63 million.
This takes the films total gross to $723.5 million which means it is now the 3rd highest grossing film having overtaken Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther, both from Marvel.
The only 2 films in its way to being the top US film ever are Avatar and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Avatar it could do by next weekend but The Force Awakens could be a hard reach.

With a solid fan base and favourable reviews the Rob Letterman directed film could go on to be the top grossing Pokémon film to hit the big screen.
The con artist film directed by Chris Addison lands at number 3 this week with $13.5 million.
Stars Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson have a dedicated following which has helped the movie but with bad reviews this could sink quickly.
Starring Dennis Quaid and Meagan Good this Deon Taylor directed falls to number 4 on its second weekend and pushes the films total to $20.9 million.
Despite the positive buzz surrounding this film it falls to number 5 this weekend with $6.1 million pushing its gross to $19.7 million on its second weekend.

2018 was another year at the US box office where Disney dominated with their Marvel franchise and Pixar hit while there was a sprinkling of Dinosaurs and a Deadpool for good measure.
The top film in the US in 2018 was the critically acclaimed Black Panther which was released in February and grossed over $700 million during its box office run.
As if that wasn't enough Disney also took the second spot of 2018 with Avengers Infinity War which was released in April and took an amazing $678 million at the US box office.
And again as if that wasn't enough for Disney they also managed the third highest grossing movie of 2018 with their Pixar studio film Incredibles 2 which was released in June and grossed over $608 million.
Universal took the 2018 number 4 slot in the US with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and despite the fact that it took over $400 million in the US it was far from the 3 Disney hits above it.
Finally on the top five hits of 2018 in the US is the Fox property Deadpool 2 which took $324 million, interestingly Fox's movie devision is about to be acquired by Disney, and the film had a second dip of the box office over the holiday period.
Disney's Marvel domination is set to continue into 2019 with more high profile releases, and despite the lack of any Star Wars movies (another Disney property) on this list the anticipation for 2019's Episode IX is already growing.

The top film so far in 2018 is Avengers: Infinity War with £70.8 million, there is every possibility that the Mamma Mia! sequel could beat this, but it could be a very close race.

Its been strongly rumoured that at least one Avenger will die in the movie with the big money on Captain America but don't rule out Iron Man or Thor not making it though this film.
