Not a lot of movement on the UK box office this week as Black Panther stays at the top for a fourth weekend and the top new film is at number 12.

The last time a film spent four consecutive weekends at the top was July 2017 when Dunkirk did it, Black panther has followed a very similar path and that film went on to make £44 million.

Black panther this weekend takes £2.9 million which brings the films total UK gross to £39.8 million, it is the top grossing film of the year, it has also just passed the $1 billion mark globally.

Breaking outside the top 10 briefly, with a lack of any big blockbusters this weekend the top new film of the week is You Were Never Really Here starring Joaquin Phoenix which is new at 12 with a weekend gross of £288,344.

Climbing to 2 this weekend is The Greatest Showman which is having one of the greatest box office runs ever, 11 weeks in and its not left the top 5 and its grossed over £1 million on each of those weeks.

This week it takes £1.5 million, an increase on last week, which brings its total gross to an incredible £37 million.

The rest of the top 5 is filled with Red Sparrow, last weeks top new entry falls to 3, and then hold overs Game Night at number 4 and lady Bird at number 5.

Worth noting is the 2 big Oscar winning film saw mixed fortunes this week, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri dropper from last week while The Shape Of Water saw a very slight increase.

Four weeks on top for Black Panther and seemingly no slowing down for the African set Marvel movie as it smashes the half billion barrier in US grosses.

A fourth weekend take of £41 million for Black Panther takes its total gross to £562 million and joins Star Wars: The Force Awakes to cross the half billion milestone.

Disney can't be too unhappy with the performance of Black Panther but their new muched hyped film A Wrinkle In Time manages a number 2 entry with £33 million.

Reviews have been mixed for the fantasy drama which is reflected in its opening weekend which reflects Disney's last attempt at fantasy drama Tomorrowland from 2015.

New at 3 is horror film Strangers Pray At Night which opens to £10 million while last weeks top new film Red Sparrow falls hard to number 4, Game Night finishes off the top 5.

Its Oscar weekend in America, not that it makes any difference to the box office as the Marvel smash hit Black Panther remains at the top beating new films Red Sparrow and Death Wish.

In its 3rd weekend of release the superhero film takes $65,705,000 which brings the films total gross to $501 million.

Highest new film of the week is the Jennifer Lawrence vehicle Red Sparrow which enters at number 2 with a weekend gross of $17 million.

Coming in new at number 3 is the Bruce Willis vehicle Death Wish, a remake of the Michael Winner directed 1974 film. The new movie takes $13 million from its debut weekend.

Last weeks highest new film Game Night falls from its debut of number 2 to number 4 on its second weekend on the box office.

Finishing off the top 5 this week is last weeks is Peter Rabbit which finds its self at 5.

As was widely expected the dominance of the Black Panther movie continued over the films second weekend in America with the film grossing again as much as the rest of the top 15.

With a weekend take of $108 million it brings the films total gross to $400 million in America and is challenging Marvels top grossing film, the first Avengers, it is currently ahead on the same point of its run.

Highest new film is Game Night at number 2, which takes $16.6 million for the weekend, the Jason Bateman starring film really was the runer up this weekend with all attention still on Black Panther.

Third this weekend was Peter Rabbit falling from its debut place of 2 which fifth is Annihilation from director Alex Garland and has had a troubled distribution and in the UK is getting a Netflix debut.

Finally on the top 5 is Fifty Shades Freed which has done better than expected taking $7 million on its 3 weekend but now falling fast.
