News from around the web

The last film director Taika Waititi gave us wat Thor: Ragnarok but in January 2020 he brings us Jojo Rabbit and today we get the first trailer.

Billed as a satire about anti-hate the film is about a young boy who go off to Hitlers Army camp, then finds his mother is hiding a Jewish girl!

The film stars Roman Griffin Davis, Sam Rockwell and Scarlett as well as Taika Waititi in what promises to be a fascinating movie.

You can check out the trailer below.

The BBFC have given Men In Black: International a 12A age rating for moderate violence, threat, sex references, language.

Starring Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth, who also starred in Thor: Ragnarok together, this is a reboot of the Men In Black series starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones.

The last movie from that series was Men In Black 3 which got a tepid reaction on release in 2012 but still took £22 million in the UK, $625 million globally.

The BBFC have given the film a 12A rating in the UK and the film has an official runtime of 115 minutes (1 hour 45 minutes).

Two big franchises chose this weekend to release their latest episodes and despite Jigsaw which is part of the Saw series doing well Thor: Ragnarok was the clear winner.

The Disney Marvel Cinematic Universe has become a mammoth series of films that simply cant be matched at the moment and the all star Avengers cars in Thor 3 (try saying that fast) debuts with an incredible £12.3 million making it the 47th top opening in the UK ever.

The film which stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor and is directed by exciting newcomer Taika Waititi joins the ever increasing lineup of Marvel movies and the ever increasing gross for Disney.

The future for the film looks good and, this is nearly double the opening of Thor: The Dark World which went on to gross £20 million so we could have a £35 - 40 million total UK gross.

New in the runner up position is the latest Saw film, this time by the name go Jigsaw, its actually the 8th Saw movie, and opens with £1.8 million.

This is a bit of a low for the series as the average opening for a Saw movie is about £2 - 3 million, but with Halloween this week it will see a boost, but then a big slump after, it could get to £5 million in total.

After a jump back to the top Blade Runner 2049 falls to number 5 with week with £0.6 million over the weekend, after 4 weeks of release this brings the films total to £17.4 million.

Also new this weekend was Breathe, a directorial debut from Andy Serkis starring former Spider-Man Andrew Garfield, it enters at number 8.

With Despicable Me 3 making a reappearance on the UK box office it is once again the longest running film with 17 weeks and the highest total grossing movie with £47.5 million .

In a summer of superheroes, Apes and Pirates it was a was film which out grossed everything with few stars but a visionary director who is a master of storytelling.

Christopher Nolan has become one of the most prolific directors in modern cinema and he took the moving story of Dunkirk to the top over the summer to the tune of £53 million.

It was by far the top film of the summer season with the closest competitor at number 2 Spider-Man Homecoming which brought home just why of £30 million.

Next up is the highest grossing film ever from a female director in the shape of Wonder Woman which grossed £22 million while the apes rules at number 4 with War For The Planet of The Apes grossing £20 million.

IN recent years a new Pirates of the Caribbean film would have meant big money but Pirates of The Caribbean: Salazars Revenge came in at 5 with under £20 million, far less than previous entries.

Looking further down the top films of the summer in the UK Guardians of The Galaxy Vol 2 was the sixth top film while Alien: Covenant was the seventh and Baby Driver the eight.

Rounding out the top 10 is The Emoji Movie at nine and finally Cars 3 at number ten, another film which is suffering from series fatigue and has done far worse than the others in the series.

Looking forward to the holiday season ahead we can expect top film from IT to Kingsman The Golden Circle, Blade Runner 2049 to Thor: Ragnarok and Justice League to Star Wars: The LAst Jedi.
