US release: 9th January 2026Disney's Zootopia 2 has an amazing debut at the top of the global box office this weekend with a debut gross of over $500 Millon, thanks largely to an incredible $270 Million China debut.
The highest grossing movie in 2025 so far globally in Ne Zha 2 from the beginning of the year which took over $2 Billion at the global box office, again thanks largely to China.
Last weekends top movie, Wicked for Good falls to number 2 and has taken just shy of $300 Million after 2 weeks of release.

Threequel movie Now You See Me: Now You Don't tops the North American box office on its debut weekend with a gross of $21 Million, this is in the same ball park but a little lower than Now You See Me 2 which was from 2016.
The first Wicked~2024 movies makes a return to this weeks North American box office and has now spent 17 weeks on the chart.
Last weeks top movie, Predator Badlands drops to number 3 and has taken $26 Million to date.
Highest new movie this weekend
The latest in the long running Predator series of movies hits the top of the North American box office on its first weekend with a gross of $40 Million.
The movie follow Prey which didn't get a cinema release but the previous movie, The Predator did and it took $24.6 Million on its debut.
Last weeks top movie Black Phone 2 falls to number 3 this weekend and has taken over $70 Million to date.

Chinese release The Volunteers: Peace At Last tops the global box office due to an early in the week release and takes a very respectful over $51 Million at the Chinese box office on its debut.
Dominating the global box office though is Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl which tops the box office in many countries and takes $46 Million from its weekend only release to promote the launch of the superstar singers new album.
Last weeks top movie, One Battle After Another, falls to number 4 this week and has taken just over $100 Million globally, and is the only hold over movie on the top 5 this week.

Alex Garlands new directorial movie Civil War makes its debut at the top of the North American box office this weekend.
The movie which stars Kirsten Dunst has been well received by critics and is set to become one of the directors top movies in North America.
Last weeks top movie, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire falls to number 2 this weekend after 2 weeks at number 1 and has taken $158 Million so far which makes it the 3rd top movie of 2024.
